XRF Capability

Grimes & Associates is upgrading its XRF equipment to provide a better service to our customers. Our new equipment can report readings in as little as 5 seconds and requires no costly/disruptive paint scraping. All this means reduced cost and superior service to you, our customer.

Many houses and apartments built before 1978 have paint that contains lead, called lead-based paint. Lead from paint, chips, and dust can pose a serious health hazard if not properly taken care of.

Federal law under the Residential Lead-Based Paint Disclosure Program , requires that individuals receive certain information before renting or buying a pre-1978 home.

Grimes & Associates offers an extensive and complete lead based paint survey, conducted according to the guidelines developed by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) document entitled: Guidelines for the Evaluation and Control of Lead-Based Paint Hazards in Housing , published June 1995 (Revised 1997).

We use non-destructive "state of the art" XRF technology (X-ray Fluorescence) to identify the existence of lead based paint. Through the use of XRF technology, Grimes & Associates is able to provide real time / same day results to the concerned client.

All of our inspectors and assessors are fully trained and have undergone accredited classroom instruction. Additionally, all inspectors/assessors are certified and licensed by the Texas Department of Health lead certification requirements.

Grimes & Associates is a fully insured lead testing firm and carries professional liability, errors and omissions policies.
